Which Covid vaccine will you get
Which Covid-19 vaccine can you get?
There are over 200 covid-19 vaccinations under development at different stages.
The Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines have been already approved by health authorities in several countries. The Pfizer/BioNTech is currently distributed internationally with several countries having already started vaccinating the vulnerable.
Both vaccines require 2 shots.
The UK has recently approved the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Russia and China have developed their own vaccines which are also distributed locally and internationally.
A novel strain of COVID-19 has recently been discovered in the South East of England. In the last several days it has been recorded that the new strain is already present in other European countries, Asia in the US.
It is currently not clear if the newly developed vaccines will be less effective against the new variant.
The UK governement has announced it plans to amend the time between the first andd the second vaccination. Instead of the 2 required vaccinations within 3 weeks, that should give 95% immunity, the second shot of the vaccination is given after 12 weeks.
It is currently not entirely clear how this will affect immunity or severity of getting ill with Covid-19.
